Personal

Veteran barrel racer who trained horses for many years but would sell the horses before she had a chance to hit the pro rodeo circuit. Her 2015 rookie title race is a tale of great emotion - Blaze Man belongs to Rachel Hendrix - who was an incredible talent just about to embark on her own pro rodeo career when she died of carbon monoxide poisoning in Jan. 2014 at the age of 18. Rachel's family encouraged Vickie to take the horse on the road as it was Rachel's dream to compete at the NFR. Vickie did and the duo qualified - she has been "Ridin for Rach" all year long. Vickie was one of Rachel's mentors as she was competing in rodeos alongside Vickie's son, Colton. Rachel's mother, Annette, called Carter "Rachel's barrel racing mom."..Made Wrangler NFR debut in 2015 and competed for the WPRA Rookie of the Year title at the age of 60 (finished second).
