Field Set for Gold Medal Round on Monday in Salt Lake City

SALT LAKE CITY - The barrel racing will be a definite horse race on Monday night at the 2017 Days of '47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo in Salt Lake City.

No. 1 ranked Tiany Schuster looks to add to her world standings, which is currently at $224,683. She will face some stiff competition on July 24 with No. 2 ranked Stevi Hillman and the rest of the stacked field. Hillman currently has $117,191, so a $50,000 payday on Monday would go a long way in closing the gap on Schuster with a little over two months left in the regular season.

The Komatsu Equipment Days of ’47 Cowboy Games & Rodeo presented by Zions Bank, July 19-22 and 24, is taking place at the all-new, $17.5 million, state-of-the-art Days of ’47 Arena at the Utah State FairPark. The venue—an outdoor arena located in the heart of Salt Lake City—and features over 10,000 stadium-style seats.
Kassie Mowry will be back for another run in a pressure situation but having won RodeoHouston earlier this year, she has proven she will be up for the challenge come Monday night. Fan favorite Lisa Lockhart is needing a big payday here in Salt Lake City to move into the top 15 in the world in 2017. Now back on Louie she will be one to keep an eye on for the $50,000 payout. Ari-Anna Flynn and Kellie Collier are looking for their biggest win of their career and a chance to add some gold to their trophy case come Monday.

Recent college graduate from Texas A&M University and College National Finals Rodeo champion Hailey Kinsel smoked the pattern in Salt Lake City on Saturday night. She stopped the clock in 16.94 seconds, the fastest time put up all week on this pattern. Kinsel of Cotulla, Texas, is currently ranked 24th with $37,217 and is looking for a big payday on Monday to move into the top 15 and a shot at her first Wrangler National Finals Rodeo. Kinsel finished tied for third in the WPRA Qualifier with Kelly Tovar, held at the Days of '47 Arena on Tuesday night to qualify into Saturday's performance. Tovar finished second on Saturday night with a 17.16 to punch her ticket to Monday night's performance. So Kinsel and Tovar were the last two contestants to earn a spot in the barrel racing and they are moving on for a chance at $50,000.

The field is now set for the much anticipated Gold Medal Round at the Days of '47 Cowboy Games and Rodeo. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded along with $93,000 per event on Monday at 7 p.m. will be live streaming from the event every night and the Gold Medal Round will be televised on CBS Sports Network on July 30 at 8 p.m. ET.
