This year there are two qualifiers whose husbands are also competing at the WNFR. Sherry Cervi’s husband Cory Petska is competing as a Team Roping Heeler and Cayla (Melby) Small’s new husband Zac Small is competing as a Team Roping Header.

Cayla (Melby) Small will be the youngest NFR qualifier this year, turning 19 in a couple weeks, while Mary Burger will also be the oldest qualifier at 68, breaking the previous record of 62.

More than 2,000 tons of dirt is hauled in for the NFR to be used in the Thomas and Mack arena as well as the stalling area outside.

Flag girls audition to be a part of the WNFR a whole year in advance! The application process is capped at 100. From there, 10 girls are selected to try out for a position. In the end, 3 girls are selected to join the WNFR flag girl team.
