Jessica Routier Wins Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award Winner
The Jerry Ann Taylor Best Dressed Award is presented by the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association and the National Cowgirl Museum and Hall of Fame, which is only given at the National Finals Rodeo and at the finals of the Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo. The award’s namesake, a 1986 National Cowgirl Hall of Fame honoree, was a flamboyant trick rider and roper who was known for her sense of style.
At the WNFR rodeo fans vote each round for the barrel racer that they feel was the best dressed. These votes are tallied and the winner is honored with a cash award of $5,000 and a plaque, plus their name is added to a plaque of winners at the National Cowgirl Museum in Ft Worth, Texas.
Jessica Routier was voted best dressed and was obviously thrilled to win, “It means so much. Everyone who knows me knows that I wouldn’t be eligible for this award without a lot of help.” Jessica explained who jumped in to help her plan her WNFR competition outfits. “Earlier this year I was connected with Sydney Fuller from Thunderbird Brand and she wanted to design 10 shirts for the 10 nights of the NFR. So, I just told her kind of what I like and didn’t like and she took it and ran with it. She did so amazing!”
Routier described some of the details that may have been hard to when she and her horse Missy were making fasst runs at the Thomas & Mack Arena. “For the shirt for (Tough Enough to Wear) Pink night I gave her pictures of all of my favorite things, like my kids and my horses, my husband, and all that. That shirt actually had all of those pictures on it.”
“Each shirt was so special. The one she did for Military (Appreciation) night had a lot of meaning behind it too. So, I’m just so excited and so honored that I could win this award for her (Sydney Fuller from Thunderbird Brand) because she did all the work, ya know. Cowgirl Tuff matched up a lot of pants to go with her shirts, and it’s just been awesome.” Jessica explained.
“I just want to thank everyone who voted for us. It just means a lot.”
