Greener Pastures for 2010
WPRA World Finals Rodeo and Members
Colorado Springs, CO - This year the sign above
the 2010 WPRA World Finals Rodeo door reads
WELCOME ALL WPRA Members. That change,
along with other exciting changes are described in the
Women's Professional Rodeo Association's Greener Pastures ad
campaign which is launching July 1. The
Greener Pastures ad campaign spells out how the WPRA
is retooling its approach to its Finals and creating
an event that is inclusive, exciting and a place
where all WPRA members will want to be.
The Finals event has been redesigned on just about every
level from the date which has been moved up to October
13-17, to its location which is at the premier Lancaster
Event Center in Lincoln, Nebraska - known for
its central location and phenomenal facility, to creating
an atmosphere that is clearly inclusive and contestant
friendly. "We intend to mobilize our nationwide
membership, and other barrel racing and roping enthusiasts, with $80,000
Added Money, a new roster of WPRA events,
and by opening the WPRA competition up to all current
members . We are very excited about this event
and its future," says Kathi Myers, WPRA President. Rodeo
barrel racers will have a unique opportunity to run in
specified classes, one for Card Holders that offers a
Gold Card members Sidepot, and one for Permit Only members.
The standard WPRA Roping events (Team Roping, Breakaway,
and Tie Down) will all be included, as will the WPRA Junior
barrel race, the WPRA Futurity (for horses 5 years old
and younger) and the WPRA Derby (for horses 7 years old
and younger).
The WPRA is also cultivating co-approval alliances which
were made with other barrel racing associations through
out the 2010 season. This means the co-approved classes,
such as the 4D Jackpot Barrels will be open and thru co-approval
arrangements with BBR, Pac West and NABRC.... their
members can include the rich event in their point standings.
Another new aspect to the 2010 World Finals will
be the 1st Annual Pro Elite Horse Sale.
The WPRA is excited to announce it has contracted
with Going Big Time Sale Company , Ada, OK
to produce the horse sale. The sale will offer
75 to 100 head of horses carrying barrel racing and timed
event bloodlines, from breeding stock to prospects
to seasoned and mature age horses. In addition
a WPRA Pro Elite Sire Incentive Select Session will also
be featured and horses will only be accepted in the Select
Session if they are by a PESI enrolled stallion or
in foal to an enrolled stallion. Consignments are
currently being accepted and interested parties should
contact Going Big Time Sale Company (580) 777-2877.
The WPRA would like to thank the following major
sponsors for their continued partnership and support
- Lincoln Convention and Visitors Bureau, Stallion
Oil, Circle Y of Yoakum, Wrangler, Dodge Rodeo and Montana
Silversmiths.
Any associations interested in co-approving the WPRA Finals
jackpot classes or if you have any questions please contact Robin
