WPRA Retains Services of Jim Harlan, President and CEO of MJM Global Search to Fill Operating Chief Position

COLORADO SPRINGS, COLORADO – The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) Board of Directors has retained the services of Jim Harlan, President and CEO of MJM Global Search, Inc., to assist them in their efforts in filling the Operations Chief/Board Executive Secretary position for the Association.

“It is important that the WPRA find the right person to fill this fast-paced position that will oversee a host of moving parts,” said Jimmie Munroe, WPRA President. “The Board and I felt it was important to bring Jim Harlan on board to help us identify interested candidates in the industry that would be a good fit for the board, office staff and our membership. We are confident that MJM Global Search will help us accomplish this.”

The WPRA Operating Chief is responsible for all the hands-on operational aspects of the WPRA activities and is a critical partner to the WPRA President and the Board of Directors in terms of growing and ensuring a healthy and viable not for profit membership-based business. In addition, this position leads the office team, headquartered in Colorado Springs, handling the day-to-day operations to be efficient, productive, and effective. As the Board Executive Secretary, in conjunction with the President, will help facilitate special teleconference and in-person board meetings as well as help facilitate other duties of the WPRA Board of Directors including but not limited to what is set forth in the official rulebook.

Harlan specializes in recruiting executives for a wide range of industries, including aerospace, technology, and equine organizations. He has completed searches for most of the major Equine Associations. Harlan is an avid horseman in his own right and is responsible for the strategic leadership necessary to ensure the achievement of MJM Global Search’s performance goals and preservation of the core values established more than 25 years ago. He has been successful in locating top-performing talent for his clients that have helped the companies reach record revenues. He has been fortunate to develop a network of the top performers in their respective fields.

The Women’s Professional Rodeo Association is the oldest women’s sports organization in the country. The Association started in 1948 with a group of Texas ranch women who wanted to compete in the arena as well as add a little color and femininity to the rough-and-tumble sport of rodeo. A major move at the time, 38 women met in a hotel in San Angelo, Texas, on February 28, 1948, to change the way they were being treated in the male-dominated world of rodeo. Today, it is a professional association with more than 3,500 members, over 1,700 events and payouts totaling over $7 million. The WPRA, headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colo., provides opportunities for women across the United States and Canada to compete in the timed events of barrel racing, team roping, breakaway roping, and tie-down roping.
