Entries Open for 2025 WPRA World Finals in Waco on September 8

By Ann Bleiker

While the 2025 regular season is wrapping up this month, the 2026 season planning is getting underway and you won’t want to miss the WPRA World Finals, November 5-9 in Waco, Texas. Entries open on September 8 and will close October 27.

Are your goals for 2026 to fill your permit, or maybe to get into limited entry rodeos like San Antonio or have you always dreamed of competing at RodeoHouston, then you don’t want to miss this opportunity to try to check a few of these off your bucket list.

The WPRA World Finals will once again be held at Extraco Event Center in Waco, TX, Nov. 5-9 in conjunction with Elite Barrel Racing. To compete in the WPRA races one must be either a 2025 or 2026 WPRA Member.

While the focus of the weekend is to honor, recognize and crown the WPRA world champions in team roping (heading and heeling), tie-down roping, all-around, junior and futurity/derby it is also an opportunity for WPRA members embarking on a run for the NFR to get a jump start on the season. In fact, leading breakaway rookie of the year Haiden Thompson got a solid start on her rookie season in Waco last November, winning the all-around title on her permit, so never count yourself out when you battle against the veterans.

This year’s Boot Barn Card Only Barrel Race will boast $15,000 in added money and all money won will count toward 2026 ProRodeo World Standings, Texas Circuit Standings and the top two in the average will qualify for 2026 RodeoHouston.

The Standlee Forage permit only barrel race will have $5,000 in added money and you will only be running against other WPRA permit holders. A great way to fill that permit and be ready to embark on your rookie year at the beginning of the season.

On the breakaway roping side, the 7K Roping Breakaway Roping will boast $8,000 in added money and all money won will count toward 2026 ProRodeo World Standings, Texas Circuit Standings and the top two in the average will qualify for 2026 RodeoHouston. In addition, the top 4 in the average will qualify for the 2026 Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo.

Once again, our partner Tito’s Handmade Vodka is adding money in breakaway roping and team roping (both ends) resulting in a total of $8,000 added in those three disciplines. Tie-down will have $5,000 added and like the barrel racing there will be a permit only breakaway roping with $2,500 added.

The 7K Breakaway Roping and Permit only breakaway roping will also offer a sidepot off the World Finals Average as an American Contender Series Qualifier. See ground rules for more information to take advantage of this opportunity.

Entries will open on September 8 and will close Oct. 27 at 11 p.m. MT. Click here: https://wpra.com/wpra-world-finals-2025/ for additional information and ground rules. Every WPRA contestant who competes will be entered in a drawing for a one-year lease of a Hart Trailer.

Make plans now to join us in Waco.
