LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – We have officially reached the halfway mark at the 2024 Wrangler National Finals Rodeo presented by Teton Ridge in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the barrel race has turned into a two-horse race for the cash.

The first three rounds went to No. 1 ranked Hailey Kinsel and DM Sissy Hayday “Sister” with the last two going to Nutrena Horse of the Year Force The Goodbye “Jarvis” and Kassie Mowry. In fact, Mowry and Jarvis stopped the clock in identical times to win the fourth and fifth rounds in times of 13.43 seconds.

“I was surprised by that,” said Mowry when asked about the identical times. “I am speechless. I just can’t believe what this horse has done and got me through this year. I am just elated and beside myself.”

Mowry has trained and ridden a multitude of horses, but Jarvis is a special one.

“I used to think he just liked small set-ups and building rodeos, but he sure showed me he likes the big outdoor runs as well,” noted Mowry when describing the 6-year-old gelding. “Most horses have strong suits and weaknesses. I am really good at being critical in finding a hole in a horse and I really have a hard time finding a hole in this horse. He likes any set-up and that is hard to find in a horse. He can win in any set-up.”

He is showing that he definitely loves the Thomas and Mack and the crowd loves him.

“I can feel the crowd running home. It is a different energy and really cool that my horse seems to like it and thrives on it,” Mowry said.

Kinsel leads the average in a time of 67.54 seconds on five, with Mowry sitting sixth in a time of 72.29 seconds. Mowry sits No. 1in the standings with $340,701, while Mowry is second with $292,905.
