The 2024 WPRA Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping will take place December 3rd and 4th at the South Point Arena and Equestrian Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. For those unable to be there in person they can catch all the action LIVE on The Cowboy Channel from 5:00 to 7:00 PM EST and re-airing from 8:00 PM to 10:00 PM EST both days. The event will showcase the top 15 breakaway ropers competing over 10 rounds — 5 rounds each day — with all competitors running in every round. Sideline coverage will be led by Hayley Novak, offering viewers behind-the-scenes insights and in-depth interviews.

The Cowboy Channel will extend its popular Road to the NFR series and include breakaway roping for the first time. Previously focused on the seven standard NFR rodeo events, this edition highlights the growing prominence of breakaway roping and the WPRA’s dedication to expanding visibility for female rodeo athletes.

“It is an honor to take the coverage of the Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping to the next level by broadcasting the event live for the first time on national television on The Cowboy Channel,” said Raquel Gottsch Koehler, CEO of The Cowboy Channel. “This is one of the most exciting and fastest-growing events in rodeo, and we’re proud to give these incredible cowgirls the national spotlight they deserve. By showcasing the competition live, we’re bringing the intensity and energy of breakaway roping directly to fans across the country, further expanding the reach of this remarkable sport.”

The Cowboy Channel and WPRA will jointly own the broadcast of the 2024 NFBR, which represents a significant step forward in the representation of women in rodeo. This one-year agreement enhances the sport’s exposure, offering rodeo fans worldwide unprecedented access to this thrilling competition.

“The Wrangler National Finals Breakaway Roping is an event that continues to grow in stature, and we’re thrilled to have The Cowboy Channel as our exclusive broadcast partner,” said Jimmie Munroe, WPRA President. “This partnership will give the sport and our members the exposure they deserve, helping to inspire future generations of breakaway ropers.”
