WPRA BOARD ANNOUNCEMENT

WPRA to Add Third Roping Director to Board of Directors

Over the past 5 years, the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association has proudly partnered with rodeo committees to include breakaway roping in professional rodeos across North America. In that time, we have gone from sanctioning 50 rodeos in 2020 to 450 rodeos in 2024 and continue to see growth. The WPRA has also worked hard to bring breakaway added money to match those of the other rodeo events and will be putting up equal sponsor money at each circuit finals this year to align with the barrel racing.

In 2023, a second Roping Director was added to the WPRA Board of Directors to support breakaway rodeo approval growth and breakaway member representation. Today, the WPRA Board of Directors is pleased to announce the addition of a third Roping Director into the upcoming 2026 election process.

After reviewing many options to best serve the membership and rodeo numbers, the roping directorships will be spread between an Eastern, Western and Central Region Roping Director.

    • The Eastern Roping Director will cover Great Lakes, First Frontier and Southeastern Circuits
    • The Central Roping Director will cover Badlands, Prairie, Texas and Montana Circuits
    • The Western Roping Director will cover Columbia River, California, Turquoise, Wilderness and Mountain States Circuits

Our current R2 Roping Director, Tibba Smith, will continue her term as the Western Roping Director and our current R1 Roping Director, Christi Braudrick’s position, will be up for election as the Central Roping Director. Beginning in the upcoming 2026 election process, breakaway roping members will vote within the region they claim for standings. Examples: Texas Circuit breakaway card holders will vote for the Central Roping Director while Great Lakes breakaway card holders will vote for the Eastern Roping Director.

The WPRA Board of Directors encourages all card holders to participate in the upcoming 2026 election.

If you have any questions, the WPRA office and WPRA Board of Directors are here to assist you.
